Why doesn't my business
show up on Google?

Usually one of five fixable reasons: Google has not indexed the site, the pages do not say what you do and where, or there is no Business Profile feeding the map box.

  • Check 1: indexing
  • Check 2: words on the page
  • Check 3: Business Profile

The details.

How do you check if Google has even seen the site?

Search site:yourdomain.com on Google. If nothing comes up, Google has not indexed the site, and no tweaking will rank a page Google has never read.

The fix is free: open a Google Search Console account, verify the site, and submit the sitemap. Left alone, a brand new site can take weeks to get noticed; submitting it starts the clock.

Does the site say what you do and where?

Google ranks words, not intentions. If the homepage says Welcome to our website instead of roof repair in Nampa, Idaho, there is nothing to match a search against.

Every page should name the service and the place in plain text, near the top. One clear page per service beats one page that gestures at everything.

What about the Google Business Profile?

For local searches, the map box comes from your Google Business Profile, not your website. No profile, or an unclaimed one, means you are invisible in the box most people tap first.

Claiming it is free. Fill in every field, keep the hours accurate, and make sure the name, address and phone number match the website exactly.

How long does it take to show up?

Getting indexed after a sitemap submission usually takes days to a couple of weeks. Ranking well for competitive terms takes longer, because Google is comparing you to sites that have spent years earning links and reviews.

A new site can still win specific searches quickly: your business name, your service plus your town, and the exact questions customers ask you.

Are ads a shortcut around this?

Ads put you at the top while you pay and nowhere when you stop. They do not fix an unindexed site or a missing Business Profile.

The free work above keeps paying after it is done. Ads make sense on top of it, not instead of it.
